Reiss Manufacturing, Inc. is currently searching for applicants for the position of Extrusion Supervisor.

Job Summary:

This person is responsible for the safe and cost-effective operation of the Extrusion department, to produce a quality product that meets our customer’s specifications, and delivery schedules. They must be knowledgeable of and follow Reiss’ Quality System Standard, safety, personnel policies, and housekeeping as applies to the job function.

About the Department:

Extrusion is a part-forming process generally performed by rubber fabricators. The process begins when a heat-cured silicone-formulated compound is preformed into a strip or slab. The silicone pre-form is then fed into a screw extruder that forces the compound through a hardened steel die. The die is held in place by the extruder head, and the die provides the shape of the silicone rubber once the silicone is forced through the die. The silicone profile exits the die and is then cured by continuously being pulled by a heated cured oven.

Essential Functions:

  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the Extrusion Department
  • Direct and oversee 10 plus employees
  • Direct and oversee departmental safety
  • Keep the department clean, neat, and orderly
  • Act as the direct representative of the department in all appropriate meetings
  • Oversee the work schedule, plan and direct day-to-day operations of the department, and make changes as needed
  • Responsible for job set up's daily
  • Maintain the production flow of the department in a manner that will meet the customer schedule requirements
  • Must be able to communicate well with employees, other supervisors, key team members, and management
  • Must be able to counsel employees on personnel manners, and refer to HR as needed
  • Evaluate and oversee the ongoing training of employees, maintain training records, and work with HR on departmental needs (hiring and training)
  • Must be able to fill out order requisitions for needed supplies
  • Must be able to maintain proper inventory and participate in bi-annual inventories
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions with clarity
  • Must be able to effectively lead and manage their team
  • Any and all additional job functions as deemed necessary by Production Manager

Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Forklift experience (preferred) or willingness to obtain forklift license
  • Supervisor experience (2 – 5 year minimum, preferred)
  • Must be able to communicate efficiently with several other department supervisors throughout the day while maintaining the flow of operations in the Extrusion Department
  • Applicants need to be able to use several forms of measurement devices, including rulers, calipers, and scales
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Be able to work the designated schedule (Monday – Thursday, 6 AM to 4:30 PM) and overtime, as needed
  • Manufacturing experience, preferred
  • On-site training provided

We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor to be located full time in our Blackstone, VA office, who will report directly to our General Manager. 

The selected candidate will play an integral role in ensuring the implementation and management of our Quality Management System (QMS) in addition to the coordination, performance, and completion of all inspection and testing services of a project. 

You will work hand-in-hand with our plant personnel, customer service and sales departments, and management team; build relationships with individuals at every level of the organization; maintain and streamline existing processes and procedures; and act as an advocate for continuous improvement throughout the organization.  

This role requires strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, the ability to self-direct and an emphasis on strong project management fundamentals.

 

What work you will be responsible for:

  • Designing, implementing and improving company quality standards to maintain ISO 9001 compliance;
  • FAIR, PPAP, FMEA, Measurement Requests, Stock Checks
  • Performing Calibrations and Maintaining the schedule/database
  • Investigating and finalizing internal and external complaints (may include customer interactions)
  • Composing and conducting monthly CIT (Continuous Improvement Team) meetings;
  • Assisting in drafting Management Review Minutes;
  • Implementing a weekly quality topic;
  • Analyzing data and identifying areas for growth;
  • Addressing quality issues and implementing effective solutions;
  • Formulating strategies to increase productivity;
  • Interpreting blueprints/drawings;
  • Training, motivating, coaching, and correcting employees to ensure that standards are met;
  • Project management, record retention and organization;
  • Creating reports to track progress;
  • Staying updated with the latest industry standards and regulations in order to maintain high-quality standards;
  • Directly overseeing Quality Assurance Inspectors; and
  • Assisting with the recruiting process.
Skills needed to succeed:
  • Availability: Must be able to work 40 hours weekly with occasional overtime as the job requires.
  • Detailed Oriented and Organizational Skills: Must be able to keep impeccable records
  • Technical Proficiency and Problem-Solving Skills: Must be able to perform inspections on various parts in multiple departments.
  • Ability to use measuring equipment (i.e., calipers, thickness gauge, durometer, etc.)
  • Analytical Skills: Must be able to assess existing procedures and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and quality
  • Leadership Skills: Must be able to work in a team environment, as well as individually
  • Communication Skills: Must be able to deliver and follow written and oral instructions

Required qualifications:

  • Manufacturing Experience: Required
  • Quality Assurance Experience: 3-4 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, and/or project management
  • Industry-Specific Experience: 3-4 years Manufacturing experience
  • Supervisor/Management Experience: 3-4 years in a leadership position with direct reports
  • Technically proficient with computers and generating reports, particularly Microsoft Office

Description:

Reiss Manufacturing is currently hiring for a machinist in our Blackstone, VA plant.

The primary responsibility of this position will be to support manufacturing by building and/or repairing tooling, jigs, fixtures, and auxiliary equipment used in our molding, extrusion, compounding, calender and fabrication operations. Must be knowledgeable of and comply with ISO 9001 requirements, safety, personnel policies, and good housekeeping standards as applies to job function.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures that high standards of safety are met and maintained while performing all job duties.
  • Uses appropriate safety equipment as required by job task such as safety glasses, hearing protection, welding apron, mask, gloves, etc.
  • Reads and interprets manufacturing drawings. Ability to work from verbal or written instructions. May be required to reverse engineer from existing parts when no drawings are available.
  • Ability to set up and operate mills, lathes, surface grinders, and other standard tool room equipment. Proficient in the use of cutting tools, tool holders and fixturing.
  • Uses precision measuring equipment to perform inspection of work such as micrometers, calipers, depth gages, and indicators.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Uses hand tools in performance of duties as required.
  • Must be capable of working with others in a team environment, accepting direction from supervisors, following work rules and procedures, and accepting constructive criticism.
  • Attention to detail is essential for this position.
  • Performs any other additional job function as deemed necessary by supervisors and/or management.

Experience:

  • CNC programming required.
  • Welding experience preferred.

  • Job Type: Full-time

  • 10 hour shift, 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs)
  • Day shift
